Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training

Welcome to another essential training series from our technical team. In these full series we are going to presents Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training for all kind of users especially for PHP and Web Developers.
There are lot of DBs are available in the trending technological marketing. First we take a look about what is database and why we need it for better performance of the web and desktop applications. The Database is a collection of tables, in older days we use papers, walls and clothes for store or passing some message for future use.
After developing the technology we are moving to store the data in magnetic tapes, Cassettes, CDs, USB Sticks and a lot more. Nowadays even a single chip can store tons of data to reduce our works. We can carry these data with us and access them at any time.

After complete the PHP Essential Training we are decide to take the web application development to the next level. So far we choose the MySQL as a backend which is helps as to store our data on the process is running. The MySQL is more easy going with PHP and easy to learn for beginners too, that’s why choose MySQL among the other biggest RDBMS(Relational Database Management System) in the field.
In this Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training lesson we’re going to show how the database is structured and organized its tables. In general a database is nothing but it contains number of tables. Consider the following image for how the database is structured.
Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training
This is an hierarchical structure to maintain the vast amount of data in under a single roof. The MySQL has a capability to create multiple databases and how to maintain them. In the above image it shows how the MySQL is structured. In this lesson we are only going to learn the basics of what is database.
Database is nothing but, a collection of tables. Table is already we know, if you’re familiar with the html entities. Like that table in this MySQL table also contains the no. of rows and no. of Columns. A database can handle more than one table at a time in MySQL.

The above image will shows you how the tables are maintained inside the database. All the tables are identified by its unique name. The MySQL has been accessed by both Graphical User Interface and Command Line commands. We can discuss the both methods in the future.
After create a table we can’t directly store the data in it. We have to create no of columns, for defines what kind of data we are going to use. In Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training lesson this RDBMS have some data types to define data storage.
After defining the no. of columns we are ready to insert our data in the tables. We have to insert each column value to complete a single row. Here we refer the row as a record and the column as a field. So a record has many number of fields. It’ll be explained as detailed in the following image.
Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training
In this image we split the table into n number of rows and also n number of columns. Each column and row is begins with the value 1 and ends at n. It is like as a n x n matrix calculation.
So here we conclude what we seen before. MySQL can handle and contains more than one database. And a Database can handle and contains more than one table. A table can handle and maintain more than one row. A row has more than one column. You’ve to be confident at this point of view to digging deep into the databases concepts.

Create a Database
After getting clear idea about what is database and tables, we can move into the concept of the database. In general the MySQL maintains the function of CRUD(Create, Read, Update, Delete). In a 360 dimension you can find wherever, these are the only functions we can perform with the databases.
In Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training lesson we are going to create a database using the command line commands. To do that run your command prompt.
Type cd C:\xampp\mysql\bin
// Username and password for the mysql server
C:\xampp\mysql\bin>mysql -u root
Or just click the start button and type mysql in that and a command prompt .exe file is open and click on that. It’ll opens the mysql client.

After enter the above shown path the command prompt enters into your mysql command line. Here after we type our sql commands and execute them.
Here in Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training we create database named sample using the create command. But before we create we’ve to check if there is already a database named sample. To confirm that we’ve to view the already existing databases using show databases;
Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training
It shows the list of data bases we created early. It doesn’t contain any database named sample. So we’re free to create in that name. Lets create the database.
Syntax: create database database_name;
create database sample;

In this Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training lesson we are create database named sample. To confirm if that command creates our database or not, we can check again the show databases command.
Database Introduction MySQL Essential Training
These are the basic commands about databases and create we can learn the advanced commands in our upcoming lessons. We hope this will gives you an basic understanding about databases and tables.
